Velvet Nights

The protagonist takes a job at the Fox Bar hoping to claw out of debt, and instead lands square in the crosshairs of the Madame, who wastes no time turning that debt into leverage. What follows is played for laughs, not drama, since the writing is upfront about caring more about chaos than a serious plot.

That blackmail is the hook that pulls the protagonist into the bar's nightlife, and from there into the middle of a running feud between three well-known bars, each guarding its own turf and its own grudges. The pettiness of that rivalry is treated as a running joke rather than a real threat, with the story leaning into comedy at every turn it can find.

Play moves through this world in sandbox fashion, letting the protagonist work the job, navigate the Madame's demands, and get tangled in the bars' squabbles at their own pace rather than along a fixed rail. Light RPG-style structure sits underneath that freedom, giving the day-to-day grind at the Fox Bar somewhere to go besides just another shift.
